Susan Sigge
The two constants in Ms. Sigge's life have been music and teaching. She began organ lessons at the age of 5 and added the flute at ten. While in elementary school, Ms. Sigge tutored younger students in all subjects. During her last year as an undergraduate, Ms. Sigge began teaching private flute lessons, rediscovering her love of teaching. A popular teacher, Ms. Sigge had a full studio every year, with students performing in many different groups and competitions. Prior to receiving her Master's in Music, Ms. Sigge worked at a post acute head injury clinic for three years, first teaching life skills, then moving into the physical therapy department, assisiting with classes and individual sessions.
After many years of teaching and performing professionally, Ms. Sigge reduced her performing obligations to spend more time with her kids Erik and Emily, and her husband Terry, a former musciain and current painting contractor. In 2010, Ms. Sigge decided to go back to working with special needs kids. She began substitute teaching in this district, working with middle and high school students. She subbed in Ms. Gibbs' class several times and always felt at home with the students and staff. When a position became available, Ms. Sigge jumped at the opportunity to work permanently with everyone at Northgate. Ms. Sigge was hired full time in February 2011. She is applying for college to receive her special education/multi subject credentials so she can do more for the special needs students.
